Accountants James Cowper Kreston, following the appointment of partners Peter Whalley and Sandra Mundy as liquidators to Auction Atrium, are seeking a buyer for its state-of-the-art website and auction bidding platform.

Peter Whalley and Sandra Mundy were formally appointed joint liquidators to Auction Atrium following a series of meetings of the shareholders and creditors of Auction Atrium on Wednesday 22 February.

Auction Atrium conducted auctions online through a secure platform allowing prospective buyers to place bids securely from anywhere in the world at any time.  The company had 9,000 registered users.  The company held monthly auctions, known as the Kensington Sales, which included fine art, furniture and objects, ceramics and glass, silver and vertu, Asian art and jewellery.  It also held regular specialist auctions in areas such as fine art, jewellery and musical Instruments as well as Chinese and Japanese, Indian and Islamic and African and Oceanic works of art.

Peter Whalley said: “This is a sad case of a visionary business idea which has simply run out of money.  As liquidators, our first priority will be to seek a buyer for the company’s state of the art on-line auction capabilities.  Indications are that there are a number of potential bidders for this and we are confident that a buyer will be found”.

Anyone interested in the opportunity to acquire the web capability should contact Tom Russell at James Cowper Kreston on 023 8022 1222.
