Thames Valley and South Coast accountants James Cowper Kreston client and private equity-backed company, City & County Healthcare Group, has acquired Help at Home for an undisclosed amount.

Based in the East Midlands, Help at Home is a leading regional provider of high quality care and support at home to people with a range of needs and abilities. Established in 1995, Help at Home employs more than 300 staff and delivers around 8,000 hours of care each week to more than 950 service users.

James Cowper Kreston has provided acquisition advisory services to City & County Healthcare Group since 2010. It is the Group’s ninth bolt-on since the company was bought by Sovereign Capital in September 2009 and James Cowper Kreston has worked on eight of them.

City & County Healthcare Group has developed an outstanding reputation as one of the largest and fastest growing dedicated providers of domiciliary care services in the UK. With the acquisition of Help at Home, it now delivers 100,000-plus hours of care per week to more than 9,000 service users nationwide, through over 45 directly owned and managed branches. Previous acquisitions include South East England-based Sage Care, Staffordshire-based Springbank Community Care and Belfast-based Quality Care Services.

Stuart Williams, Senior Manager in James Cowper Kreston’s Corporate Finance team commented: “The acquisition further cements City & County’s position as a leading player in the domiciliary care market. Craig Rushton and the executive team continue to work tirelessly to expand the group’s geographic reach, which now covers the whole of the UK, whilst successfully integrating the acquisitions into the City & County family.”

Craig Rushton, Chief Executive of City & County Healthcare Group, said: “Unlike many of the large companies in this sector, we specialise exclusively in domiciliary care which give us a deep understanding of both the challenges and opportunities present. This latest acquisition brings greater breadth to our existing portfolio of services and further strengthens our geographic reach. It also demonstrates our long-term commitment to invest in the care sector.”

Earlier this year City & County Healthcare was ranked in 36th place in The Sunday Times Buyout Track 100 report of the fastest growing private equity-backed companies in the UK.
