A team of petrol heads from accountants and business advisers James Cowper Kreston is taking to the road at the end May for a series of Top Gear challenges in aid of the charity Special Effect.

The Twin Town Challenge will see more than 50 teams attempt over 1,000 miles and a series of 12 driving challenges along the way, including circuits at the historic Brands Hatch, Le Mans and Croix En Ternois race tracks, in cars that cost no more than £500.

The James Cowper Kreston team - J'aime Coupé - comprises Business Restructuring and Insolvency accountants Ian Robinson and Tom Russell, VAT and Corporate Tax specialist Luke Parker-Hodds, and Matt Spencer from the Private Client Tax team.  J'aime Coupé will depart from Witney in Oxfordshire on Friday 23 May, travelling down to Le Mans via Brands Hatch and Le Touquet, before, hopefully, returning on Monday 26 May.

Bonus points will be award to those choosing old-fashioned map-reading skills over Satnavs, the best decorated car and the most competent drivers.  And for those who are unfortunate enough to break down, there is always the Bus of Shame.

Ian Robinson said: “We have bought our car, a 1995 Mercedes E class, for just £400.  It may not pass Clarkson’s Cool Wall challenge but it is a solid piece of German engineering and I know it will get us all there and back in comfort.”

The James Cowper Kreston team is raising money for Special Effect a charity that helps severely disabled children and adults play and learn through video games.

The Twin Town Challenge is supported by Prime Minister David Cameron, MP for Witney and Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
