Press ReleasesThames Valley and South Coast accountants James Cowper Kreston has been appointed auditors to the recently launched Satellite Applications Catapult, a technology and innovation centre dedicated to the development and commercial exploitation of space and satellite-based technology.
The Satellite Applications Catapult is one of a seven-strong network of Catapult centres created and funded by the Government’s Technology Strategy Board, with others dedicated to high value manufacturing, cell therapy, offshore renewable energy, the digital economy, future cities and transport systems. The Catapult was officially launched earlier this month merging with the International Space Innovation Centre and is based in Harwell, Oxfordshire.
Stuart Martin, CEO, Satellite Applications Catapult, said: “The space and satellite industry is currently worth an estimated £9bn to the UK economy and this is predicted to increase to over £400bn by 2030. This new centre will bring invaluable resources to enable the best businesses, researchers and end-users to work together and develop new satellite-based products, services and applications.
“James Cowper Kreston was able to demonstrate a keen understanding of this sector and will be an essential part of the team.”
The James Cowper Kreston team is lead by partner and head of its Technology practice Sue Staunton. She said: “James Cowper Kreston has considerable expertise in advising businesses in the space technology sector and already acts for a number of companies based at Harwell.
