Academies

James Cowper Kreston’s Charities and Education team currently acts for 17 academies, and we are speaking to many other schools about conversion to academy status.

Academies are schools directly funded by central government, but they are independent of local authority control and have a number of freedoms. There are now over 3,000 academies across the UK.

James Cowper Kreston are founder members of the Kreston UK charities and education group, whose member firms act for almost 300 academies. The group's market-leading academy benchmarking report will be published in February 2014.
